Description

Started by a local educator and small group of committed parents, the International School of Brooklyn currently operates as a private elementary school but with numerous additional programs such as after-school and camp, which serve the community at large. ISB is New York's only French & Spanish language immersion school following the International Baccalaureate curriculum. The school is located in a former head start building in Prospect Heights and is slowly expanding to be able to offer a full range of elementary school grades.

From the website:

The offerings at ISB follow the tenets of the International Baccalaureate, which encourage creativity, critical thinking, adaptability, global citizenship and intercultural understanding. ISB does so in a French and Spanish language-immersion environment. ISB is a cultural resource providing an environment fostering multicultural awareness through activities and events available to the community we serve.

Playgroups which teach language through various movement and activities are also offered for toddlers and pre-schoolers, both at the school as well as in Park Slope and Dumbo.

After School classes are offered at the Prospect Heights Location in Dance, Yoga, Drama and Soccer, and many of the after-school classes are offered in French or Spanish. Classes currently serve children five through eight years of age.

Camp if for ages three to seven and offers the expected summer programs with art and movement combined with an extensive foreign language exposure.
