Description

Established in 2006, El pequeno artista is the first children's bilingual arts center of its kind in New York. Workshops are designed for children between 5 months and 8 years of age. Teachers are native Spanish speakers with fluency in English.

The center offers a range of classes including (taken from the website):

Spanish Immersion Language Instruction Our new language program is a playful way for your children to immerse themselves in Spanish and learn to speak it easily! Through the use of toys, pretend play techniques, visual aids, etc., our program will provide children 2 ½ years and up with the tools to use Spanish, learnt from a context, not from mere memorization. Each group incorporates techniques and props that are appropriate to their specific age.

Pan Dulce - Cooking Our international cooking program lets children explore tools, techniques, flavors and textures. They will sure want to try new ingredients and foods as they use them in new, fun ways in this tasty class. Tuition includes printed recipes made in class and a cloth apron!

Artistic Creations - (Beginner Spanish) Children in this class use techniques such as sculpting, collage, painting, printmaking and drawing to put their imagination into work and express their creativity. Children take home projects every few weeks.

Musica Para Mi - Music (Beginner Spanish) New York City's first music-in-Spanish program for children from infancy through age 5. Our 45 minute classes are spent singing, dancing, playing percussion, and more, in a playful, supportive, total immersion environment. To register in this program, go to musicaparami@aol.com, or at 718-643-6660.

Pre-Ballet (Spanish) A fun introduction to ballet using imaginative techniques! Children learn the primary elements of classical ballet, including floor, bar & center work, and get a true sense of accomplishment with this dance.

Move It & Moving Toddler! (Spanish) With elements of acrobatics, dance and gymnastics, and great upbeat music, this class teaches flexibility, balance, coordination, and concentration. This is a great way to drain all that energy, as the kids listen to careful, quality instructions in Spanish.

Percusion (Spanish or English) Enter the world of Latin American drums! Children will play different rhythms used in salsa, meringue, samba, cumbia, bomba, etc. Private classes available.
